The spiritual energy of Panther Meadows at Mt. Shasta draws visitors from around the world.
As someone who has called the Mount Shasta area home for over a decade, I’ve had numerous opportunities to explore its trails and discover the region’s most sacred natural spots.
Although top on my list these days is Panther Meadows, one of Mt. Shasta’s most spiritual sites.
Moreover, it has a rich history of mystical encounters.
Panther Meadows may have gotten its name because a Native American saw a panther in the meadows there.
My Experience of the Sacred Energy at Panther Meadows, Mount Shasta
Not too long ago, I was up at Panther Meadows with my friends Donna Meehan and Salvador Garza, musicians who come here most mornings in the warmer months to play among the spiritual energy of Panther Meadows around Mt. Shasta.
Donna sets up her crystal bowls, and Sal’s violin harmonizes with the birdsong—sometimes, it even feels like the wildlife is joining in their music or more they choose to harmonize with the birds.
Their presence adds to the unique mystical atmosphere that, for me, makes Panther Meadows such a special place.
The sacred energy at Panther Meadows by the well, or source water, is something that’s hard to describe but truly must be experienced for yourself.
If you look up the history of the Panther Meadows Mount Shasta sacred vortex you will see that tribes such as the Winnemem Wintu, Shasta, Karuk, and Pit River peoples see sacred Panther Meadows Spring as a creating point, the beginning of life and a doorway between dimensions.
Panther Meadows Sacred Energy Site
My unique experience has been that if you are already on a spiritual path, the sacred energy vortex around Mount Shasta can truly accelerate your journey.
Let me explain. Not too long ago, on a warm summer morning, I met up with my friends Donna and Salvador, who were heading to Panther Meadows to connect with this powerful place and play their instruments.
I chose to hike up from the lower area near the campground to have a mystical morning walk in solitude, as this trek to the source is nothing short of magic and grace.
Leading into Panther Meadows on Mount Shasta, the trail glows with life—crystal-clear streams tumble down cool mountainsides, threading through sub-alpine forests of red fir, lodgepole pine, and mountain hemlock.
The gentle sounds of water create a peaceful backdrop as the trees give way to open, lush meadows, bursting with color and wildflowers in late spring and summer.
My favorite is the wild medicinal arnica that blooms all over the area!
The meadows, divided into upper and lower sections, are kept vibrant by the pristine spring that feeds the area, contrasting dramatically with the surrounding rocky terrain and offering expansive views of Mount Shasta.
I often pause beside the sparkling creek or simply soak in the quiet beauty.
Panther always leaves a lasting impression on me.
Sometimes when Donna and I are up at the source, we shake our heads and laugh: “Looks like it’s just us up here.”
Maybe the real secret is that not everyone is quite ready to take in this kind of wild beauty—so the rest of the world stays tucked away in the cities while we have these wonders all to ourselves.
This hike and area are genuinely some of my favorites in the world—a perfect blend of natural beauty, sacred energy, and peaceful solitude.
When I reached the source, I sat on a rock beside the stream that flows from the sacred spring.
My friends Donna and Salvador were already playing their cosmic sounds, weaving melodies that blended perfectly with the birds and natural surroundings.
Their music felt like an amplifier of the sacred energy at Panther Meadows, opening up the unseen realms.
You can find their work online at ShastaHealingsound.com.
Whether in nature or at their studio, they play every day, either in person or online.
Panther Meadows Raises Your Vibration
The sacred energy vortex at Panther Meadows is almost like a place from a faraway land, a place for the original ancestor souls to remember their sacred roots.
I automatically feel a deep reverence for the area when I arrive, and it’s important not to disturb the surrounding meadow or stray from the trail.
Leaving flowers or jars of potions is discouraged, as the place doesn’t need them—its wildness is perfect as it is.
Panther Meadows raises our vibrations naturally, in harmony with its pristine and powerful energy.
As a testament to the area’s wild beauty, you’ll find unique “cosmic” flowers flourishing here.
Although I took this photo while hiking above Panther Meadows on a different day, these magical beings are precisely the kind you encounter in this pristine wilderness.
Known as the Western Pasqueflower (Anemone occidentalis), they have charming nicknames like “Muppets on the Mountain” and “Old Man of the Mountain.”
Their fluffy, whimsical appearance reminds me of something out of a Dr. Seuss book. They are a sign of renewal and rebirth.
Beyond their enchanting look, the dried flowers have traditionally been used to calm the nervous system—and honestly, just watching them dance in the breeze can soothe your nerves, too.
As my friends played and I took in the awe-inspiring surroundings at the meadow that day, where the veil was thin between the spiritual and physical, I felt thankful that I had the opportunity to experience such a rich place.
My Possible Sasquatch Encounter?
As I left an hour or so later, I texted my friend Sal and said, “Do you think Sasquatch likes Panther Meadows?”—half jokingly, but genuinely curious about what he would think.
As someone deeply interested in researching and studying Sasquatch encounters, I had never seen any creature resembling one during my 11 years of hiking in the pristine wilderness around Mount Shasta—until after that mystical morning at Panther Meadows.
This sacred energy vortex on Mt. Shasta holds many mysteries, and my experience there shifted my perception in unexpected ways.
Just two hours after my time at Panther Meadows, I took my puppy Nesta, a Samoyed, for a hike on the Foundation Trail.
This trail offers a scenic route through open terrain at first, then a gentle elevation change leads into the forest, opening up to stunning views of Mount Shasta and Black Butte.
It was Labor Day, and as we began our hike, we followed the familiar path until we reached the elevation where the landscape shifted into a dense wooded area with tall trees unique to this part of Mount Shasta.
That day, the trail was alive with fluttering butterflies, adding a magical touch to our journey.
And I love this trail because it is a way to escape from all the crowds, although you occasionally see mountain bikers.
As Nesta and I turned to head back, we looked up the trail and saw a partial bipedal creature emerging from the right side of the open wooded area.
It was on the trail for only a few seconds, but locked eyes with us both. We were about 30 feet away.
Its eyes were black and hard to see beneath the thick hair covering its long face. If it was a sasquatch, it was indeed a junior sasquatch by looking at his size.
Within moments, it disappeared into the brush off the trail.
Nesta looked at me, and I looked back at him. It felt as if the creature had briefly stepped in and out from another dimension.
Whether it was a Sasquatch or some other being, we may never know.
But it didn’t seem entirely of this reality—more like it crossed briefly into this dimension for us to witness, if only for a fleeting moment.
My encounter was brief, but it was indeed what had happened. I wish to document it for myself and share it with those interested in opening up to see more than this small matrix has to offer us.
The theme of my website extends beyond physical health; it is about becoming your true self and seeing beyond the surface.
This was something I had not experienced up until now in my 11 years in the area.
And it all happened after the experience at Panther Meadows.
I had heard that perhaps sasquatch was an interdimensional creature, but I never believed it.
This experience challenged that belief. Whatever it was truly seemed to walk into this reality for a brief few moments in time.
Showing itself to me and my dog with its thick curly hair all over.
I feel like Panther Meadows’ sacred energy opened my eyes to see more than I had been able to in the past.
The sacred energy vortex at Panther Meadows gave me a profound awakening, accelerating my spiritual path and enhancing my extrasensory perception.
Not long after that experience, while walking Nesta along the cement walkway in Mount Shasta, I saw a huge rainbow stretch across the sidewalk, not in the sky but the sidewalk.
There were no rainstorms or clouds—just a vivid, unexpected rainbow that felt like another sign of the mountain’s mystical power.
Perhaps letting me know I was on the magical path in my life and that beauty and divine presence is in my life.
Could Panther Meadows be a place to expand consciousness?

Panther Meadows Reflections
I feel deep gratitude for this experience, as I have been on a spiritual path for my entire adult life.
I’m deeply grateful to my friends Donna Meehan and Salvador Garza for creating a sacred container that made this profound experience possible.
Their transformative musical art truly opens doorways to higher states of consciousness.
You can learn more about their healing soundwork and experience their powerful sound journeys at shastahealingsound.com.
The Panther Meadows sacred site is home to many stories of encounters with mystical beings, elementals, and unexplained phenomena.
Like myself, many cite it as a place of calm and warm energy.
It feels like an ancient outdoor temple where you can experience the unseen and know the unknown.
On the day of the red moon, I was up there in the morning doing a small ancestral healing ceremony of my own.
I brought an old photo of my sister and grandmother and did some family constellations type work.
It is key to remember that we are the culmination of all the families that have come before us.
All of the traumas, all of the wisdom gained, we are the culmination of it all.
And in us is a living field of this energy, which is asking for resolution.
Otherwise, this results in downward causation, which extends from our spiritual to our mental, and then physical body which can create dis-ease.
To experience wholeness and walk with all our relations in power and peace, we each must be the one to extract the wisdom and resolve our own trauma.
Panther Meadows Sacred Energy Vortex Conclusion
