I have been doing liver flushes since 2009. For nearly two decades, dozens of flushes, and I have watched this single practice transform health in ways that almost nothing else can match.

Weight that would not budge.

Fatigue that had become a way of life.

Pain that practitioners could not explain.

Again and again, the liver flush protocol has been the turning point.

This guide shares the upgraded protocol I use today, refined over years of personal practice and clinical experience.

It builds on the foundational work of Dr. Edward Group, whose liver flush kit introduced me to this practice, and upgrades the classic Epsom salt approach with TUDCA, a bile acid that opens the bile ducts more gently and effectively.

I will also share the advanced additions I have incorporated over the years for those ready to go deeper, thanks to Dr Group and his team.

If you have heard of liver flushing but dismissed it as fringe, keep reading.

Your liver processes over 500 functions daily and is the primary filter for everything that enters your body.

In our current toxic environment, that filter needs regular support. This is how I do it.

Why the Liver Flush Protocol Matters More Than Ever

We are living in a period of unprecedented toxic burden.

Glyphosate, heavy metals, pharmaceutical residues, seed oils, synthetic hormones, and environmental chemicals all pass through the liver for processing.

Add to that the chronic stress patterns driving cortisol overload, and you have a liver that is working harder than any liver in human history was designed to handle.

The result shows up in ways most people do not connect to liver health: unexplained weight gain, persistent fatigue, hormonal imbalances, skin issues, brain fog, joint pain, and sluggish digestion.

When I see these patterns in people, the liver is almost always part of the picture.

A liver flush protocol works by stimulating bile flow, releasing stored stones and sludge from the liver and gallbladder, and allowing the body to expel what has accumulated over years of living in a modern world.

The Sequencing That Makes This Work

Before we discuss the liver flush protocol itself, the sequencing matters enormously. Skipping this is one of the most common mistakes people make.

Why? Because you can end up feeling very sick if you do not take care of your drainage funnel and prep yourself mentally and physically.

Step 1: Open drainage pathways first. The lymphatic system, kidneys, and bile ducts need to be open and flowing before you begin releasing stored toxins from the liver. If drainage is congested, mobilized toxins have nowhere to go and can recirculate, causing a significant detox reaction.

Step 2: Cleanse the colon before flushing the liver. What comes out of the liver during a flush needs a clear exit route through the colon. My first liver flush was preceded by a seven day colon cleanse eating only fruits, and the results were extraordinary. At a minimum, use Oxy-Powder for two nights before the flush (4 to 6 capsules) to ensure your bowels are clear and the chance of nausea is significantly reduced.

Step 3: The liver flush protocol itself.

Step 4: Aftercare and repeat. Most people need at least nine consecutive flushes to truly clean the liver. I recommend spacing them every three to four days initially, then moving to once or twice monthly for maintenance. Each flush typically releases more material than the last as deeper layers of accumulation are reached.

Preparing for Your Liver Flush Protocol

Two to three days before:

Eating clean whole organic foods should be your standard, but if you want a deeper cleanse, consider a fruit fast in the days leading up. Fruits like avocados (high in glutathione), watermelon (high in glutathione and deeply hydrating), tomatoes, and green juices are ideal. Fruit hydrates the body and cleanses the lymph, giving you a cleaner starting point for the flush itself.

At minimum, eat clean and avoid heavy fried foods, meat, dairy, and seed oils in the days before.

Not familiar with the dangers of seed oils? Read all about them in my article here.

Consider a castor oil pack over the liver the day before the flush to help prep the liver and draw out more toxins. See my full castor oil pack guide here.

A coffee enema before the flush can also significantly increase what comes out by stimulating glutathione production and opening the bile ducts. See my coffee enema guide here

The night before and two nights before:

Two nights before the flush, take 4 to 6 Oxy-Powder capsules before bed. Repeat the following night, the night directly before your flush. This two night prep ensures your bowels are thoroughly clear going into the flush, significantly reducing the chance of nausea.

Day of the flush, two hours before:

Stop all food and drink two hours before you plan to take the oil mixture. This is important for reducing nausea and ensuring the mixture moves properly through the system.

Take your TUDCA now: 2 to 4 capsules two hours before the flush. TUDCA is my upgrade over the traditional Epsom salt approach. It opens the bile ducts gently and effectively without the harsh laxative effect of Epsom salts. If you prefer the traditional approach, Epsom salts remain an option.

Hydrate well in the hours before your two hour cutoff. Take Quinton minerals internally and also rub them over the liver area. Taking them internally gives your body the energy and electrolyte foundation it needs to handle the detox demands of the flush. Rubbing them over the liver adds direct mineral support to the area you are working on: Quinton minerals here

Get your red light pad ready to place over the liver after you take the mixture. Red light therapy during the lying-down phase supports cellular repair and enhances the detoxification response: Red light pad here

If you use a vibration plate, use it now in the two hours before the flush to stimulate lymphatic flow: Vibration plate here

Brew a batch of fresh ginger root tea and let it cool to room temperature. You will use this to cleanse your palate after drinking the oil mixture and to settle nausea if it arises.

How to prepare and take it

  • 1Add all ingredients to a mason jar with a tight fitting lid. Seal and shake vigorously until fully combined. You can also use a blender or Magic Bullet.
  • 2Drink the entire mixture at once without stopping.
  • 3Follow immediately with a small sip of cooled ginger root tea to cleanse your palate.
  • 4Lie down on your right side immediately with knees curled up toward your chest. Stay in this position for 30 minutes.
  • 5Place your red light pad over the liver area if you have one. Focus on releasing stored emotions and anything that is no longer serving you.
  • 6After 30 minutes you can roll onto your back for another 30 minutes. Rest and take it easy for the remainder of the day.
  • 7The following morning take 4 more Oxy-Powder capsules to flush out what the liver released overnight.
Tip: If nausea arises, sip your cooled ginger root tea and walk around briefly before returning to lying down. A digestive enzyme containing lipase taken later can also help break down the oil if nausea persists.

What you need:

  • Global Healing Liver Flush Kit — this kit contains the basic foundational pieces that you will need: the olive oil, Oxy-Powder, Liver Health supplement, and turmeric supplement
  • 3 ounces of the organic cold pressed olive oil included in the kit. You can also use organic cold pressed avocado oil or a half and half mix of both for variety
  • 1 tablespoon Fairchilds organic raw apple cider vinegar here
  • 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon, lime, or grapefruit juice
  • 1 teaspoon organic black seed oil here
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon organic black seed oil for additional liver and immune support

How to prepare it:

Add the Liver Health supplement to a mason jar or container with a tight lid. Add the olive oil, apple cider vinegar, lemon or lime juice, and black seed oil. Seal tightly and shake vigorously until the mixture is well combined. You can also use a blender or Magic Bullet.

Drink the entire mixture at once. Follow immediately with a small sip of your cooled ginger tea to cleanse the palate.

What To Do After Taking the Mixture

Lie down on your right side immediately after drinking, with your knees curled up toward your chest. This position encourages the mixture to move toward the liver and gallbladder.

Place your red light pad over the liver area if you have one. During this time, focus on releasing. Let go of stored emotions, patterns, and anything that is no longer serving you.

The liver in Chinese medicine is the seat of anger and frustration. A liver flush is as much an emotional release as it is a physical one.

Stay in this position for 30 minutes.

After that, you can roll onto your back for another 30 minutes if you wish.

If you feel nauseous in the first 30 minutes, walk around briefly and then return to lying down.

Your cooled ginger tea can help with nausea. Just a small sip.

If needed, a digestive enzyme containing lipase taken later can help break down the oil if nausea persists.

If you are doing this in the daytime, rest and take it easy afterward.

You will not be hungry for several hours.

When you do get hungry again, start with fresh fruit and see how you feel before eating anything heavier.

The following morning, or that evening if you flushed at night, take 4 more Oxy-Powder capsules to flush out what the liver released.

The Advanced Additions

For those ready to go deeper, these additions can significantly enhance the results of the liver flush protocol:

  • 3 dropperfuls of first morning midstream urine, collected and left covered until evening
  • 2 dropperfuls Insuless globalhealing.com
  • 2 dropperfuls EDTA here
  • 2 dropperfuls Toxin Binder here
  • 9 drops DMSO here

The turmeric supplement included in the kit can be taken the night before and the day after the flush to reduce inflammation and support the process.

What Comes Out and What It Means

What comes out and what it means

  • What they are: A mix of cholesterol, calcium, fats, lipids, and sometimes parasite residue that your liver has been storing over years
  • Colors vary widely: Brown, green, yellow, and other shades reflecting the diverse toxins and materials being expelled
  • Texture varies too: Some are harder, especially if the liver has accumulated glyphosate or inorganic minerals. Others are softer globules of fat and sludge
  • Their presence is a positive sign: These stones and blobs represent toxic buildup being released, including fats that store many toxins
  • Whether stones or sludge: Their exit means the liver flush protocol is working exactly as intended

This is the question everyone asks, and the answer is both fascinating and encouraging.

What you see in the toilet after a liver flush protocol is a mix of materials your liver has been storing and processing over years.

They can be a mix of cholesterol, calcium, fats, lipids, and sometimes parasite residue.

Their colors vary widely: brown, green, yellow, and even other shades, reflecting the diverse toxins and materials your liver is expelling. Some are harder, especially if your liver has accumulated inorganic minerals or chemicals like glyphosate, while others are softer globules of fat.

The presence of these stones or blobs is a sign your liver is actively cleaning itself.

They represent toxic buildup being released, including fats that store many toxins. Whether they look like stones or sludge, their exit is a positive sign of detoxification.

Most people need at least nine consecutive flushes before the liver is truly clean. Each flush typically yields different material as deeper layers are reached. The progression over multiple flushes is remarkable, and the changes people report are consistent: weight loss, fatigue lifting, less pain and inflammation, clearer thinking, greater immune resilience, and a sense of renewal that is difficult to describe until you have experienced it.

My first flush was truly eye-opening. After a seven day colon cleanse eating only fruits, I expelled stones and felt like a completely different person.

My eyes were wide and crystal clear. I felt revitalized.

I sat in the backyard feeling profoundly grateful for the courage to try something new and take full responsibility for my health.

How Often to Do a Liver Flush Protocol

Initial cleaning phase: Every three to four days until the liver is clean, which typically takes nine to eighteen flushes.

Maintenance: Once or twice per month ongoing.

This is not a once-and-done protocol. The liver accumulates continuously, and ongoing maintenance is part of a committed approach to health, particularly given the toxic burden of modern life.

Who Should Not Do a Liver Flush Protocol

The liver flush protocol requires a stable health foundation. The following situations call for caution or consultation with a qualified practitioner before proceeding:

  • Severe liver disease or active liver inflammation
  • Large confirmed gallstones (work with a practitioner who can guide you appropriately)
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Very frail health or significantly compromised immune function
  • Certain chronic illnesses that affect how the body handles toxin mobilization

If you are unsure whether this protocol is appropriate for your situation, this is exactly the kind of individualized guidance I offer in my coaching practice. Working with someone who understands the full picture of your health makes a significant difference in how you approach and sequence a cleansing protocol.

Supporting Your Body Through the Liver Flush Protocol

Adrenal support and sufficient hydration throughout your flush days are not optional; they are foundational. The adrenal glands regulate the stress response and play a key role in how the body handles detoxification.

See my adrenal cocktail guide for support.

Lymphatic support before and after each flush helps ensure that what gets mobilized has a clear pathway out. Movement, hydration, rebounding, and specific lymphatic botanicals all support this.

Is Your Liver Asking for Help?

Check all symptoms that apply to you

Your liver may benefit from gentle ongoing support

You have few symptoms right now. Supporting your liver with clean eating, castor oil packs, adrenal cocktails, and the liver detox tea recipe is a great place to start. Consider a liver flush protocol once or twice a year as a maintenance practice.

Your liver is likely asking for more attention

Several of your symptoms point to a liver that is working hard and may be congested. Opening drainage pathways first, doing a colon cleanse, and then beginning a series of liver flushes is the protocol I would recommend. Read the full guide above and consider reaching out for personalized coaching support.

Your liver is strongly signaling it needs support

Your symptom picture suggests significant liver burden. A structured approach beginning with drainage, colon cleansing, and a series of liver flushes spaced every three to four days is likely indicated. I recommend working with a practitioner who understands the full detox sequencing to guide you safely through this process. Learn about working with Dodee here.
